I had some time today and so I made a pretty box for my business cards and tags. I played around with making some embellished cards and love their new home.
One of my very favorite gifts I received from my son & Amanda were my business cards. They got them for me last Christmas and then updated them for me this year. I use them to promote my blog and also use them as price tags. Sometimes I fancy them up and put them on special items. So I'm at a thrift store, and I look over and see a bag with what looks like a beautiful quilt in it. My heart starts racing! I reach over and take it out of the plastic bag and can't believe how pretty it is. Little pieces all quilted together. Oh, so pretty!! Now here is where the happy dance comes in..... I go to pay for the quilt, and it's $5.00! I really want to dance around the store, sharing my beautiful little quilt with everyone, but I don't. I go home with a big smile on my face, walk in the house and show my hubby my new vintage quilt. He smiles at me and said it looks just like something I would make. That man knows just what to say, doesn't he?!
This week we took a trip to Yuma to see my sister and brother-in-law. It is about a 3 hour drive, and I decided I better grab my bag of leftover project pieces so I would have something to do on the drive. I just started sewing little pieces together. I tried out some new stitches and didn't worry about raw edges. This is what I ended up with. I'm going to make a book with fabric pages, and I think these will work just dandy!
I love the paper mache' boats that Ann Woods creates! I have wanted to make one myself for over 2 years. I put it on my to-create list every year, and I finally made one today. You can go to her blog to find the directions to this project, and see other cute things she makes. (Her owls are fantastic too!) I used a piece of vintage linen for my sail, and added the little patches from Tim Holtz fabrics. I didn't paint my boat, I just let the paper mache' show because I thought it looked nice with the colors in the sail.
