I wanted to do some different projects for the show I'm doing next week. I had a tray and some super hero images that I cut out, and decided to decoupage them onto the tray. I thought it turned out really nice and so I went a step further and decoupaged a desk with the super hero images. The desk was a bit of a time labor task, but once it was done I was happy with the results. The first photo is the tray. Here are pictures of the desk.
I saw this little stand at a yard sale and I knew it had potential. It was brown wood and pretty dull. I brought it home, primed it and painted it white. I was going to make it for women's magazines, but it is so petite and cute that I decided to make it for a child's room. I did a little water colored painting from Winnie the Pooh on the top of the stand. It has a favorite quote and I even painted a little lamp to match it. I just need to find a little lampshade that tops it off. I think some children's books would be perfect in the slots.
I found these little tea caddies a long time ago. I really wasn't sure what they were at first, but I thought they were interesting and unique so I bought them. They have been in a box in my art room at home for a long time. Then one day I was looking at Pinterest and I saw some pretty tea bags sewn out of fabric. I thought something like that would look neat hanging from the tea caddies. Then I decided to take a tea bag that I had used from Might Leaf Tea Co. I emptied the tea bag after I used it and added a vintage picture to the inside. It looks so pretty hanging on the caddy! I added a little decorative paper to the top of the tea bag and that was it. Here is my side note! If you want the best hot tea ever try Mighty Leaf Chamomile Citrus Tea. I had some in California about 10 years ago and I was hooked! You can order it online and the tea comes individually wrapped in the most beautiful tea bags. Now you can drink this wonderful tea and make a little piece of art with the tea bag when you are through! They have lots of great teas, but this is my favorite!
Now, how cute is this bag? Here is a quick story; Peggy came to Arizona for a visit. I shared some of the fabric that Cindy gave me so she could do the Handmaids postcard challenge. Well, she didn't have time to enter the contest, so she made me this bag! I LOVE it! When I got it in the mail, and my husband said it was a keeper! Oh yes, it is definitely a keeper! Thank you Peggy!! Did you notice all of the little embellishments? There are even pockets on the inside of the bag! Now this is Sew Cute!!
Thank you again Peggy! Your sewing and creativity is amazing!! These wood cutouts will be perfect to sell at the vintage show this month. I have a selection of children's vintage items, and these would be just right in a babies room.
I saw this dog food dispenser and decided it would be cute painted. It could be used inside or outside and you could personalize it with your dog's name and picture. What dog wouldn't feel special eating out of this!
I know I'm a day late in wishing you a happy Easter but my internet wasn't working very well. It was a wonderful weekend. Here are a few pictures I have to share with you. Thank you for the package Cindy, I loved it! Mike and I took dad on a jeep ride and cookout.
I am gearing up for the show Front Porch Pickins, which is the 24th of this month. I wanted to make some special shopping bags for this show. I used some of my miscellaneous fabric pieces to make bags to give away to customers. I stitched the bags and my business cards to make a pretty presentation. Here are a few that I just finished!
I have had the best luck lately! I received my Easter Swap parcel from Julie. She sent it all the way from Australia!! I was so excited to get it in the mail on Friday morning. I took it into my classroom and opened up each carefully wrapped present! It was absolutely delightful!! My students had as much fun seeing the items as I did. Well, not really because I get to keep them and they just got to see them. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! The package had 10 gifts: E- Easter Runner (Made by Julie) A- Apron S- Sewing Kit T- Tea Towel E- Embroidery Kit R- Rabbit T- Tag for Luggage I- Ink Pen M- Mat for Center of Table (Made by Julie) E- Easter Fabric Thank you so much Julie! I enjoyed the swap and would love to do it again. Your gifts were beautiful, especially the lovely sewing you did on the table runner and the table mat. I have never had an actual embroidery kit before and I'm so anxious to use it. We have studied Australia in our class before, so it was fun receiving a package from there.
Once again, my sincere thanks! Terry |
