Trip to Wyoming

6/29/2015

My dad and I decided to go and visit my sister & her husband in Wyoming.  They live on a beautiful ranch outside of Saratoga.  I wanted to share some of the pictures I took.  Don't worry, they are pictures of things around the ranch, not personal pictures of people.

Cindy has a sheep wagon that she cleaned up, scrubbed, and has readied for guests.  How fun is this?!
I should say that it will be moved closer to the fishing lake very soon.

Here is the outhouse she had built to go by the sheep wagon.  I love it!

Here are a few flowers I picked to have in my room.  The garden is unbelievable!

Here is the fresh lettuce, radishes, and chives she picked for our salad each night.
(There were fresh strawberries, carrots, asparagus, etc. that I didn't get pictures of.)

Friday we went to an estate sale and I was able to buy the most beautiful quilt!  It's a grandmother's garden quilt.  I really couldn't leave without it.

Here is one of my sister's cutest creations using an antique washboard on her sun porch.

I had a wonderful time in Wyoming.  It was green and beautiful, and I had such a wonderful visit!

How cute is this Kuehne table & chairs?!  I hope it will be my show stopper this weekend at The Big Heap in Flagstaff.  The table is in great condition and even has a extra leaf.  There are 4 chairs with a little bit of wear on the corners.  This is a genuine Kuehne table and chairs from the 1950's.  I have a lot of vintage kitchen item that I'm selling.  There is a vintage mixmaster, a set of pyrex mixing bowls, lots of kitchen tools and even linens and aprons from the 50's.

Superhero Wood Card Table

I have sold everything I have made using decoupage and superhero images, so I thought I would try a card table.  This project took so much time, but everyone who sees it stands there and touches it.  Who wouldn't want to sit and play cards on it?  If you have a bad hand you can see how many images you can recognize on the table!

I just finished this little curio cabinet.  I decided to leave the inside green.  It's not a color I would normally pick out, but I think it works.

Shutter Serving Tray with Wood Bowls

I pride myself on this idea for thinking outside the box!  I purchased some wooden bowls a couple of weeks ago.  I wasn't sure how I was going to use them but I thought they were pretty.  Then I started going through some half started projects.  I had taken a wood shutter and removed all the little wood pieces that make it open and close.  So now I basically had a wood frame.  Then I thought some of the wood plank paper I have would look neat on the back side of the frame.  I asked my mister if he could make me a bottom for the frame so I could use it to hold the bowls.  Well yes, he kindly made the bottom of the tray and then attached handles on each end to carry it with.  That is the story of how I made the shutter serving tray.

Barn Wood Boxes

6/8/2015

Today I made some boxes out of old barn wood!  I was so proud of myself because I used a power saw and I didn't even cut mu fingers off!  Seriously, I measured, cut and took my time making sure they would all be fine when I was finished.

The first box I made was for Ball glasses.  There are four glasses and they fit just right inside the box.  Now, if you were making a gift for an adult, you can put the little cans of pop inside the glasses and little bottles of adult beverages in front of the glasses.

Here is another box, only this one has a small edge.

For the last box, I used an old headboard for the wood.  I cut the back side with a rounded piece and the front side was a straight piece.  I used scraps from the headboard to make the bottom and the sides of the box.  This headboard had been sitting outside and was about to go to the dump.  I'm glad I could use the wood to make something.  It just needs a little paint and sanding and it will be done.

SNACK Dishes

I bought these snack dishes because I thought they were cute and unique.  Then I needed something to set them on, and so I made a serving board out of wood.  I wanted it to resemble a cutting board, be long enough to sit all the dishes on and be able to clean up easily if something gets spilled on it.  I painted one side read and the other side distressed white.  I thought that way I could use it with other dishes too!

Repurposed Stand

Quick story! When my husband and I had our son, we also started a fish family!  We bought an aquarium and a stand from my cousin Jeff.   We had 5 fish; Captain Crunch, Scooby Do, Minnie, Mo and Jack!  After many years, the fish got so big we had to relocate them to a pond at the country club.  I took the glass aquarium to school and put sand and sea shells in it.  The stand for the tank served as a sewing machine stand and was later upstairs on the balcony making itself useful as a plant stand.  Long story short; I gave the stand a make-over once again.  I took the front doors off, made a new top and finished it off with my favorite plank wallpaper.  I think it would make a cute outdoor drink station!

Oh, and here is an idea for the rustic bedsprings.  I was just checking to see if you read all the way through the post!  Wink! Wink!

Ladder Display

6/2/2015

I bought a wood ladder at the Habitat Store.  I thought it would make a perfect display for my vintage junk.  At first I cut wood pieces to make shelves across each step.  I thought it turned out fine and dandy.  Then as I was gathering things for the show, my creative juices started flowing, and things just fit perfect, like they were meant to be!!  My printers tray fit on the bottom shelf.  The cabbage shredder went right above it. Next was a box, and on the last shelf I had a narrow box that opens and you guess it, it was made to sit there!!  What is so fun, on the top of the ladder, my teacher friend made a light out of an old headlight.  It works and has a cord running from behind.  My little plant and license plate top it off.  Hot diggity dog!!  I have lots of old stuff I'm selling, and all the little stuff can go in the little compartments and the shelves.  I stained the latter after I took the pictures, and I was too lazy to put it all back again for another picture.
